Programme:
Advanced Training in Family Medicine (ATFM)

Advanced Training in Family Medicine (ATFM), previously known as Advanced Training Program (ATP) is 2-year academic, structured programme, encompassing strategic collaboration and research offered to trainees who have satisfactorily completed the 2-year Graduate Certificate in Family Medicine (GCFM) Programme of the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia.

The curriculum of the ATFM Programme is a part of the National Postgraduate Primary Care Curriculum of Malaysia, a common curriculum for postgraduate training in Primary Care in Malaysia. The aim for ATFM programme is primarily to upskill general practitioners for safe and unsupervised family and community practice in Malaysia. It culminates in the Conjoint MAFP/icFRACGP award in collaboration with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).


OBJECTIVES

  1. To train general practitioners in the field of Family Medicine:

  2. To provide continuing, comprehensive, and personalised care to individual patients and their families

  3. To detect and manage illness early in the community setting

  4. To provide health promotion and prevention of disease

  5. To understand research and/or the audit process
