Abstracts
The Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia (AFPM) invites researchers, healthcare professionals, and educators to submit abstracts for the Annual Scientific Conference 2025. This year’s theme, "Family Doctor: From Preconception to Beyond Life’s End," highlights the pivotal role of family doctors in providing comprehensive, continuous, and compassionate care throughout the human lifecycle.
Calling for Abstract
The Scientific Committee invites the submission of original scientific materials that are unpublished at the time of the abstract submission deadline.
We welcome original research, case studies, and review papers that address the following topics:

Preconception and Reproductive Health:
Innovations and approaches in preconception care, family planning, and reproductive health.

Maternal and Child Health:
Optimising outcomes in antenatal, perinatal, and pediatric care.
-
Chronic Disease Management:
Advances in managing non-communicable diseases and multimorbidity in primary care.
-
Mental Health and Well-being:
Integrating mental health services in family practice to promote holistic care.
-
Aging and Palliative Care:
Improving quality of life for the elderly and patients at the end of life.
-
Digital Health and Innovation:
Leveraging technology to enhance patient outcomes in family medicine.
-
Public Health and Community Medicine:
Family physicians as leaders in preventive healthcare and health promotion.
-
Medical Education and Training:
Preparing future family doctors through innovative teaching and learning strategies.

All abstracts must be submitted by 1st March 2025·

Authors will be notified about the outcome of their submission through email by 22nd March 2025

All presenters must register and confirm the payment by 1st April 2025

A total of 40 abstracts will be accepted.

Abstracts Submission Guidelines
INTRODUCTION
The abstract submission guidelines intend to provide clear instructions for the abstract submission. Prospective authors are encouraged to read the guidelines below carefully. The Scientific Committee and Advisory Board reserve the right to reject any abstract that does not meet the requirements or is in violation of them.
Submission of clinical research/ reviews abstract

Poster presentation should be in A0 size in portrait format

The abstract must be written in English and not more than 300 words.

The abstract must be in a structured format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion).

All abstracts must be submitted online via the Abstract Submission Form link by 1st March 2025

The submitted abstract must be ORIGINAL and has not been published elsewhere. However, abstracts that have been presented in other conferences can be considered.

Please supply personal details. Full name of all other authors must be in upper and lower case.

A panel of reviewers will assess all abstracts independently.

The scientific committee reserves the right to make the final decision about the acceptance of the abstract.

Once the abstract has been accepted, the presenting author must pay the registration fee by 1st April 2025 and attend the conference.
-
Failure to register and pay for the conference after the deadline will disqualify the accepted abstracts from the competition as well as publication in the journal.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors approve the content of the abstract before submission.

There can be no change to the content once the abstract has been accepted.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the Malaysian Family Physician journal, a peer-reviewed journal that is indexed by PubMed Central, Proquest, Scopus, DOAJ, EMCare, Open J-Gate, MyAIS, WPRIM, Google Scholar.

Submission of case report abstracts

The poster presentation should be in A0 size in portrait format.

The abstract must be written in English and not more than 300 words.

The abstract must be in a structured format (background, case presentation and conclusion)

All abstracts must be submitted online via the Abstract Submission Form link by 1st March 2025.

The submitted abstract must be ORIGINAL and has not been published elsewhere. However, abstracts that have been presented in other conferences can be considered.

Written consent must be obtained from the patient.

Please supply personal details. Full name of all other authors must be in upper and lower case.

Not more than 10 case reports will be selected for the poster presentation.

A panel of reviewers will assess all abstracts independently.

The scientific committee reserves the right to make the final decision about the acceptance of the abstract.

Once the abstract has been accepted, the presenting author must pay the registration fee by 1st April 2025 and attend the conference.

Awards and Recognition
Outstanding presentations will be recognised during the conference. Awards will be given for the Best THREE (3) Poster Presentations.
